Wedding - FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What type of camera do you use? I use only professional
quality digital cameras, and I bring backup equipment to every
wedding. I also use only a professional photography lab to
print all my photographs for me, I do not make inkjet prints!
2. Do you do black and white photography? With the
flexibility provided by digital photography, any image I create
can easily be converted to black and white!
3. How many photographs do you take at a wedding?
I am a story teller and artist, so numbers are really hard
to pin down. Each wedding is different, but I usually create
anywhere from 30 to 100 images for each hour I spend with
you.
4. What do your packages include? They all include
a specific period of time that I spend with you on your wedding
day, plus Internet posting of your photos, plus an album CD of images suitable for email, web and printing small images. If you don’t see a package that fits your needs, contact me and I will custom design one for you!
5. Do you require a deposit and if so, how much? I
do not require deposits, but I do require retainers! You are
retaining me for services provided before, during and after
your wedding, plus whatever product is included. The retainer
is non-refundable and not only confirms my time on the day
of the wedding, but makes me available for additional consultation
services you may require. Upon receipt of the retainer I will
send you a contract. The retainer is one third the amount
of the program you choose, plus sales tax.
6. When is the balance due? Any time up to and including
the day of the wedding.
7. How long after the wedding does it take to get our
photographs? I post your proofs on the Net within one
week of the wedding! Albums, wall folios and framed wall portraits
take about two months from the time you order them. Notecards,
holiday cards, thank you cards, enlargements and all other
products take about a month.
8. What about negatives? Since I am digital, there are no negatives, but digital files. Much of my service is provided after the images are created. I retouch and crop each photo before sending it off to the lab for printing, and they adjust for color balance and density before printing. I do include a CD of files suitable for emailing, posting on the web and printing of small images, but I suggest leaving the printing of large images, wall portraits and albums up to me. You select the images you want, then let me do the design work!
9. Can we meet with you ahead of time to discuss our wedding
photography? YES! I actually prefer it if you do. It helps
us get to know each other, which makes for better photographs!
I do consultations anytime, without obligation, but they are
by appointment only, so please call me for your appointment.
10. How come enlargements are so expensive and why do
they take so long to produce? When you buy an enlargement
from me, you arent buying the piece of paper the image
is printed on, as you would if you take your 35mm film to
the local one hour lab. You are buying my additional artistic
ability and technical expertise: each image is custom cropped,
retouching is done, horizons straightened, subjects centered,
etc. And the image is checked for quality every step of the
way: from production in the studio, to production at the lab,
then back at the studio again before the image is sent to
you.
11. How long have you been in business? Image Angels
was created by Karen Linsley in 1987 under the name Linsley
Photography. I began with small weddings and continued to
grow. The name change to Image Angels occurred in 1997, see
The Story Behind the Name for details on that!
12. Are you the photographer who will be at my wedding?
YES! I am the sole owner and proprietor of Image Angels. I do however bring an assistant with me to weddings. His/her duties are to help carry my gear and to hold the light and/or reflector. I also sometimes employ help in the studio to design wedding albums and process print orders.
